It's in an option package or a dealer-installed option. Your Xterra didn't get ordered with them or get them put on. The best place to get them is eBay or from a local salvage yard. Full price is a little steep. Of course, you can get aftermarket bars nerf bars that are made to fit the same. Again, check eBay or Froogle.

Also when installing side steps you have to realize the ground clearance is not as good. Not recommended for four wheel drive Xterria's. Owners come into the dealer all the time wanting the side steps warrantied because they should not get bent! High centered on a rock.

Most vehicles come in packages and, may exclude the desired items. Most times it's much cheaper to by the accessories aftermarket. Your local junk yards may have the deal your looking for or perhaps E-Bay.

because its is an option, you can get it in a package....you probably got the base model
