I've been keeping track, and From Day One to Day One, my cycles are about 17 days long. Is this normal?

Just to add to this, I'm 16 years old and I've been having my period sinc I was about...12, I believe. Also, to clarify for some people, I only bleed for roughly 5 days, but my next period occurs two weeks later. Day one to day one...you know?

Well, its definately not normal, but it doesn't mean that you are unhealthy or that something is wrong.

I know you are young, and if your period is on such a short cycle, then are not likely to be on the pill, but this should help. If it's something that you are comfy talking to your mom and doc about, then getting on it might be a solution. The pill should be able to elongate your cycle.
It is unlikely that anything is actually wrong with you, but doctor appts seldom hurt anyone, so discussing your cycle with your doc may give you some options to lengthen your cycle.

Good luck and sorry to have misinterpreted before!

Bleeding longer than 7 days is not normal. Periods can go about 3-5 days. Bleeding longer can happen and there's usually something that causes it to be this long. If you get more than one in a month there could be some hormonal issues too. I went on a pill and continued bleeding so going on the pill didn't stop my bleeding. I bled from 10 days to two weeks and couldn't be away from a bathroom more than 20 minutes at a time. Please see your doctor to find out what's going on. Things like endometriosis could cause longer periods and pain. I was diagnosed at the age of 19 with endometriosis and found out that it's usually younger women who get diagnosed with endometriosis or that's the reason they are having a problem. Other things can cause heavy and/or long bleeding such as fibroids, polyps, adenomyosis, hormonal issues, etc..

What you are experiencing is called breakthrough bleeding (which can act a lot like a menstrual period) and it is definitely not normal. This bleeding could be going on because of possible infection such as with the cervix. The only way to find out for sure is to see your dr to have them evaluate the situation to see what they think could be going on.

Seriously i dont think there is a normal menstrual cycle, i have had mine for all different lengths of time.

Go see you GP anyway and perhaps they can check your hormone levels to see if they are all balancing out. Usually things can straighten them selves out but if your worried see you GP.

I have had mine for as long as 2 months and as short as 2 days, i had them 8 days apart for the last 2 months so yeah i am pretty irregular... cant wait till menopause except for all the side affect of that lol

youre 16 and youve been having your period for 4 years, your cycle should lengthen out a bit, but dont worry, every cycle is unique and it's good that youre keeping a record.

If youre worried about it, take a trip to the doctors and explain your concern.

Nope. I forgot what that means, but you might have a syndrome. You should definitely get that checked out. Plus, that would be really annoying. lol.
