Saddam Hussein needed to be deposed. And since he was put in power by the U.S., it's reasonable that the U.S. take him down. Sadly, the operation in Iraq has been a debacle due to problems within the current U.S. presidential administration - And due to erroneous beliefs of the U.S. public about what was and is going on in Iraq. Previous administrations (Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton) knew and understood the implications of deposing Saddam Hussein and so chose to contain him rather than embroil themselves in the quagmire of removing him.

What I want to know is what posessed Pres GW Bush to do what his own dad had the good sense not to do? I truly suspect it is because 9/11 affected GW in a profound way putting him in a sort of blind fighting unreasoning hit anything that moves mentality.

Ask yourself if someone had asked this question about WWII before 1940, and ultimately GERMANY had won WWII try and imagine what today would look like. Yes, the world today and tomorrow for your children and grandchildren will be totally different had the Coalition Forces not entered Iraq. Now, the real problem is we will NEVER know what benefits or loses this war has gained or changed. However, history (if you study it) will attest to what happens when a dictator is in power happens. IMHO no American would like to consider being controlled like any of the middle Eastern countries. This is why we fight for freedom. If you do not want freedom move to those dictator controlled countries. Try Cuba too!

As was mentioned before, yes there are plenty... However I think because of the media coverage, people don't see the good we are doing there... Most Soldiers will tell you that you do not see the good we are doing because the media is looking only at the bad. Ever seen the videos of Soldiers giving books and food and toys and clothes to the Iraqi children? I doubt it... 15 month deployments suck... but you know what, they are well spent, as much as us former military(never went to Iraq) and spouses complain.... It's hard to find one to say that we've wasted time there.

Members of the military get real-life wartime experience. It's a good thing for there to be a cadre of experienced soldiers.

Other than that, I don't think there is anything good about Iraq, and I feel it should be ended as soon as possible.

A few people are benefitting form the war, notably Bush's friends.

It's interesting, all this talk of terrorists. There weren't any in Iraq until the US started the war, now it's full of them. They are easy to identify though, they are the people wearing a uniform.

Saddam is dead and so are his sons. Iraq has the right to vote. Dead terrorists. Women have the right to vote and get an education.

There are lots.

A good way to find out and see first hand is to take a trip down to your local Army Recruiter.

If you're too much of a chickenshti to do that, talk to a soldier. He will tell you.

Until then, stfu.
