You are the only one that can give it meaning. You can live, love, learn, enjoy, have fun without believing in a non-existant entity, I assure you.

Let me play devil's advocate (excuse the pun, I couldn't resist). I'd like to argue that life *loses* meaning when an afterlife is brought into the picture. If the belief is accepted that any one person will spend an INFINITE amount of time in afterlife when they die, how important can anything you do in less than a puny century be? If, however, it is assumed there is no afterlife, the belief carries that everything you do in this lifetime is all you get, and should inspire you to make it worthwhile, to make an impact on how the world, to change things for posterity (and live on in a different sense. After all, they say we die twice). The idea is always to prolong the inevitable "peetering-out," to use your words. It always has. That's what we do in life, otherwise everyone would have killed themselves long ago. One day the Sun will swallow up the Earth. Maybe by then enough people will have decided to do something with their life to build the mega-spaceship and recolonize, (thus prolonging the death of the Earthlings) rather than just taking comfort in the belief that there is an afterlife to go to following everyone's death. My main point, if there's an eternal, blissful afterlife, why bother living here at all? Why not just kill yourself (be forgiven for killing yourself) and go to blissfulness now? (Don't anyone try that at home. It was NOT a suggestion.)

the meaning of life is to have a life of meaning! and yes If God didn't exist then yes it would be meaningless. We are here to Bring Jesus Glory by Living for Him. Hey man, trust me, if you have the Bible, read Romans. Don't stop either, thinking, "o i'll just read a diferent verse or none at all.".Kepp going ! man it was meant to be and God's planning that you ask this question so I could answer to you. but what is an answer if you don't act on it. Man, dude, trust me, do it now. and away from the computer so no distractions. I wish you well my fellow in Jesus Christ. May Jesus be with you!

Life as Life is, is not meaningless...the images we project and call "The World", are meaningless.
Life is all about love. In this "life", our daily world, loving thoughts are the only reality.

Until we begin living the real life (after Armegeddon) I don't think anyone can truly know the big picture but God is fully just and righteous and he would not leave us without purpose. Keep holding on to hope until then and you will surely know what it is. We do know that God wants us to live forever and to be happy. Soon, those things will be accomplished as well. Don't give up.

One whole Book of the Bible (Ecclesiates) affirms that when you look at things from a purely natural standpoint, all is Vanity, or probably better stated by the word Futility. No matter what you gain in life, it will be through much toil and pain, and then you die.
Thank God for the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, which brings Life and Immortality to light!
