The challenge in answering your question lies in the definition of a Jew. Are you talking about a bloodline or a religion because it is usually both.
Jews are Jews because they are in the lineage of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob....bloodline.
There is also the Jewish religion.
Please note that with the destruction of the temple in 70 ad, the Jewish religion changed. Jews went from a patriarchal to a matriarchal because of the many deaths of the men and the rape of many women.
Obviously, temple sacrifices were no longer a requirement. So an interesting question would be whether King David or a prophet would recognize current Jews as Israelis....(the northern kingdom, the 10 tribes of Israel, disappeared after being conquered. Jew is short for Judah...the two tribes in the southern kingdom.)
But if you define Jewish as bloodline, then you can have Jews following Buddha, Jesus and a host of others....and some do.

A conflicted personality. Jews throughout history have attempted to "pass" because of the terrible descrimination lobbed against them as a people and individual. It also could mean that the person identifies more closely with being a christian but he is in the closet with family and others. There is no motive I can think of that benefits a jew posing as a christian. Christianity and Judaism are two of the world's great religions and both have my respect. In Judaism I particularly like the fact that Jews can "argue" points in interpreting their bible - forget the name of that "bible." It is an intellectual religion that is fascinating, although the Orthodox Jews take life a bit too narrow for my tastes.

A Christian is a follower of Christ. Being a Jew is a nationality/race of people. I would not judge Him and say that He is not. My knowledge of most Jews(at this point) believe in the Old Testament but not the New. He/She might have come into the light. Who knows? May God Bless U.

How do you know this person is lying? Some Jews are Christians. They are called Messianic Jews. They are people who are Jews that believe Jesus has come to be their salvation. Regular Jews are still waiting for the Messiah to come.

You can call them Jews for Christ, but if they follow Jesus, they are Christians. Remember, Jesus was a Jew...but He got baptized and started Christianity.
Religious people are hardest to reach for Christ because they are so wrapped up with their religion and tradition that they are not able to change.
I do not know why you say that this Jew is lying about being a Christian. You can be born to a Jewish race, but you can abandon Judaism and start to follow Christ. : )

They are called Messianic Jews. Another sign of the end times. I once heard a pastor say that we Christian are only completed Jews.

Who are we to judge a Jew who claims to be a Christian? We are not to judge and should not say he is lying. God knows his heart and that is all that matters.

Good grief. A person can be born a Jew just like a person can be born Indian, Irish, Turkish, Canadian, French, German etc etc. But one can practice Judaism and I would assume be considered a Jew. A person who is born a Jew does not have to practice or believe in Judaism.
