Well, it's important for a girl to be a virgin because that means that they are clean or fresh meat. And The reason why a guy don't have to be one is because if they don't have experience, when they first try having it with a virgin girl, they might eject without knowing and well, there goes a baby. This is actually a pretty complicated question. I think a lot of it has to do with tradition and history, and in the past most societies placed a high value on purity and virginity (religious reasons, etc.)

I think our society still holds to a lot of these values and traditions.

As a guy, I like virgin girls because they place a high value on their integrity and self-worth and I know that they are confident enough in themselves not to use sex as a way to try and be 'loved'. Plus, if you fall in love with someone, it's a hard pill to swallow sometimes to know they've let someone else be so intimate with them.

Of course this is just idealism, I'm okay with non-virgins too.

I think that's a very common misconception about guys, unless they're saving themselves for marriage.

Surprisingly, not a lot of guys prefer a virgin. The reason is because the sex is horrible and they're constantly on edge about hurting the woman. Oh, and the amount of "responsibility" of deflowering a woman can take away from the experience.

when you do a non- virgin they think if its going to suck or be good and if its better than the last time and guys don't want to know if the girl had better sex before them

Guys like girl who respect their bodies. They feel like virgins will challenge them more than someone who's already been *entered*. And all guys LOVE a challenge.
But I feel you question is a liitle off...
it's important for ALL to be virgins until marriage. Society has just tweeked other people's outlooks on things and you see it as a reflection of most guys.

Guys like virgins because they get to think about being the first person to touch you like that and to show you how things feel. Virgins are also supposed to feel the best because they're the tightest. Supposedly.

Guys aren't expected to hold back their sexual urges and it's socially acceptable for them to 'slip', I guess you could say, whereas girls are supposed to have more self control, and girls that 'slip' are seen as dirty people with no self control. Not true at all in alot of cases, but welcome to America.

also...it shows that a girl is giving something very sacred which proves her love to that man and that she is not just playing a game...

Please, don't ask that question. Just stay virgin untill you get married!! Virginity is a sign of self respect, the sad thing is that 99.9% of girls lose they're virginity to (ASSHOLES).Which leaves no virgins to the nice guy's, who appreciate "virginity"
