now im not criticizing here. its just a question. o.k what are the odds that the bible is not complete? whether it means all false or its missing alot. how safe is it to ask "could the words and meanings be off?",i mean Considering that it has come down from generation to generation; translation to translation?

first of all, great question. secondly, i agree that alot of what was written has been lost in translation. i've watched specials where they talk about how the original Bible was written in a certain language, and there are a few words that have multiple meanings in other languages. also, there are many gospels that were left out of the Bible. did you know that Mary Magdalene had her own gospel?
also, it cracks me up that people take the Bible as "God's Word", what they don't remember is that God didn't write the Bible, God didn't control the "pens"... men did, and men could have easily put their own spin on things. such as, women were basically just for making babies and taking care of the family. did you know that before the time of Christ, women held powerful positions in some communities. but like i said, men wrote the Bible, not God.

The Bible is complete. When you study the entire

Pretty good odds. It still contains much truth from God, but it is missing a lot, and things have been lost and changed as it has been translated and passed down. It only makes sense that this would happen, since the record was not kept nor translated by prophets, with a direct line of revelation from God.

Some History: Luther thought God no longer spoke to man. He believed that the only authority of God could therefore come from the Bible. Modern Christianity, for the most part, have taken on Luther's assumption - believing that an appeal to the Bible can tell us all that God wants us to do.

But what about the prophets that God promised to send us, to tell us his will? (Amos 3:7).

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the authority of God, and is led by a living prophet, who speaks to God. And we know he is a prophet, because the Spirit of God testifies of the truthfulness of this assertion.

God is a living God, and he speaks to us today, directly, as well as through his prophets and through the Bible.

I'd say it's safe to say that there are things that could (and should) be in the Bible that aren't (between writings that weren't included when the Bible was compiled and translation errors and stuff that was deliberately removed by various people over the years).

And people wonder why the Mormons say we still need prophets today!

i think the odds are excellent that the bible isnt complete. I am sure much was lost in translation, and much was never even written down. what if all we have read is half the story? or even the wrong story??
i agree with you, but we will never know the answer.

Listen up!

Go back into your mind. When did you put yourself on this earth (planet, dirt, soil, world)? Take your time and really think this over (it may take more than a day or two).

Any time that you have doubts or questions as to the beginning of your existence or the world, just stop and do the aforesaid.

No doubt in my mind.

All you have to do is consider the fact that church doctrine was established BEFORE the church decided what should be included in the Bible and what should be excluded (because it ran contrary to church doctrine.)

The cart was put before the horse!

In another train of thought...

The modern Anglican Priest and mystic Robert Llewellyn, former chaplin of the shrine of Julian in Norwich, wrote that there are two ways of knowing Christ: One can either know all ABOUT Christ or one can know Him. He added that "Knowing Christ is the only knowledge that ultimately matters. We Christians have a great start in knowing ABOUT Christ from the Gospels, but if we do not know Him it is as nothing."

It's not complete (books were left out when it was compiled by the Catholic church). It has been translated dozens of times, copied by thousands and thousands of human hands, edited by people with agendas, re-interpreted and re-translated, and considering it was WRITTEN by people ... You don't know what you're getting.

Some interpretations are as you say off. King James- NO ONE talked like that. (I'm sorry it annoys me.) anways. People seem to think that no the Bible is wrong sometimes (usually for the things they are for, it's against) and maybe it's true. Maybe the Bible was wrong for it saying that people could be forgiven. Maybe those people who want to sin and want to believe that the Bible is wrong won't be forgiven. I mean, if it's wrong, right?

Works of fiction are as complete or incomplete as their authors deem them to be. As the authors of the Bible are long dead we shall never know. Editors have been hacking away at the bible for centuries and quite likely will continue to do so.
