Contact your local Department of Family and Protective Services(DFPS) office. They can give you the website for your state's licensed daycare providers. You can then go in and check every licensed daycare in your town! I own a daycare and always encourage prospective clients to go and check us out! You'll be shocked what you can find out. Look for a daycare that is inspected every 6-9 months, yet in good standing. Paperwork violations aren't so menacing. It's qualifications of worker violations, no background checks, negligence, and safety practice violations that you want to watch out for. Good luck in your hunting!!!

I have been a licensed child care provider for 20 years. Our state's licensing rules require daycare homes and facilities to have a copy of their license posted. If you would like to check out a particular daycare's public records you can contact the Department of Human Resources in your state.

You can go to myflorida.com, click on department of children and families. They have access to all kinds of daycare information. You will find all the complaints they have had, inspection reports and much more useful information.

Hope this helps....
