Does your eyesight decrease as you are wearing glasses?

I had absoulutely perfect vision till' about now when I'm 13. Im not sure if I should get glasses and im wondering... do glasses help more or hurt more? please get me professional info so i can know thanks!

also my friend has told me her eyesight decreased by a 1+ each year... is this becuase of glasses? if so i might decide not to wear glasses.

Wearing glasses will not make your eyesight worse. It might worsen but it will not be a function of the glasses. You will feel better if you can see better. You will probably think better also. Have you considered contacts? I love them. I lose glasses but the contacts are great, I forget I am wearing them.

I don't have any professional experience, but I do have personal. If you need glasses, you need glassses. There's nothing you can do about that. I have had glasses for 15 years and when I was younger and wearing glasses all the time, my eyesight did decrease at a rapid rate. However, once I got contacts, my eyesight got worse at a much slower rate. So much so, that I have been able to keep the same pair or backup glasses for four years. The reason is that the contacts keeps the shape of your eye from changing as much as it would with glasses. So if you need glasses, go ahead and get them because if you don't, things will get much worse very quickly. However, talk to your parents and eye doctor about contacts (I was 10 when I got mine, so you're old enough in my opinion) and see if you can get those. Just a side note though, you will still need to get a pair of glasses if you get contacts because you can't wear them all the time. Good luck!

Wear your glasses. They'll help you see better and won't make your eyesight worse.

The actual glasses won't make your vision any worse, but when you take the glasses off you will feel like your vision is worse than before because you are not used to having them off.
