I have a cavalier king charles spaniel!
I chose this breed because they are known to be very good with children (i have a 10 year old & 14 year old).
I also wanted an inside dog, these dogs are suited to indoors and love to be around people. Very cuddly sooky dogs...love their humans.
I also wanted a dog that wouldnt chase our 2 cats! Cavaliers are known for fitting in with most animals!
The worst trait....well they absolutely love their food, so they can get overweight, so don't give in to those big brown eyes!!

A German shepherd mix - mostly German shepherd.
I knew I was moving into a neighborhood that had some problems, and I wanted a Germ.shep for protection. I could not find one that I could afford, so I went to the dog pound for a mix. And there she was. Six months old and so beautiful.
I have had her now for almost 11 years. SHe has been the best dog companion I have ever had.

Best traits: She is smart and can read me. She had some training as a pup, but she has trained herself in other matters, when I say, "wait." she stops and waits for me. When there is a strange noise outside, she lays her body over mine (Oof! She's heavy) and growls. She trusts whomever she senses I trust, and raises her hackles and distrusts whomever she senses I distrust.
When it thunders outside, that is the only time she really runs to me for protection. She lays her head on my knees or, if it's a particularly bad storm, she will try to pull her large body up onto my lap.
I adore this dog.

Bad traits: She picks up her food dish (or attempts to pick it up) to carry it to a comfy spot to eat... inevitably, the food spills EVERYWHERE. And then she doesn't want to eat it once it's on the floor. Sometimes her wild instincts kick in and she chases my cats. I have to remind her that snacks with names ARE family members.
On the other hand, she treats one of the cats (the one I raised from an infant) like her own puppy. And she is very sweet to my bunny -- under my watchful eye.

She is very good and patient with kids and teens of all ages... as long as she senses that I, too, am ok with them.
She tends to mistrust men the most... service men, like the utility meter reader guys.

Right now, she has different health complications that go along with getting older. I love her dearly and cannot (and don't want to even think about) life without her.

I have a boston terrier and her best trait is that she loves to cuddle and will sleep int he bed all day if you will let her. Her worst trait is that you have to take her outside about every two hours because she can't physically hold it any longer and she is eight months. I have an English Cocker spaniel and her best trait is that she is soo sweet and loves to give kisses and loves to meet new people. Her worst trait is that she will never cuddle and is constantly on the move wiggling and playing with her toys, she also pees when she is excited but most dogs grow out of that and she is only 4 months old.

Wishbone: 15 y.o. chihuahua. We walked into the shelter he was supposed to be put down because he was vicious...i was five and we are still best friends 10 years later. Worst trait....likes to bark. He knows everything I tell him and is the best dog i have ever owned.
Cassie: Chinese Crested...basically she is an insane dog who barks a lot and absolutely hates children. She is also a lot of work!
Lexi: Chihuahua/ Dachsund mix that I found. She listens extremely well and behaves. She gets along with my grabby 5 y.o. cousin nicely. She tends to bark when the dogs get going but only if they start it.

Hope this helps!

I have an adopted Greyhound/Pit mix (3 y/o) and an adopted Pitbull (11 months old).
These are the most intelligent and loving dogs I've ever had the honor of adopting.
When Fefe's sister (a purchased dachshund) died I had to go back to the shelter and get another pit mix.
They are good with other dogs, cats and people.

I have a yellow lab and a cocker/chow mix, my lab is great with kids and teens and just a big baby now if he thinks something is going to hurt anyone in our family he will start being protective but most dogs are like that, the cocker/chow mix has always been good with my kids especially when they was babies she watched over them all the time.

Well, I don't have a dog, but I wish I did. Here are some good dog breeds....
Pug
Lab
Retriever
Newfoundland
Pomeranian

I suggested these particular breeds because they're really loving and good for children. All these dogs are kind and gentle. My top choice would have to be the pug. I would choose this because they're so adorable and hilarious!! I wouldn't reccomend a boxer because they're really aggressive. Dogs make great pets for children. Hope this helped.

Good luck!!!

I have a rescued pit bull, who is a year old and is the best! she is so great with kids and everyone who comes by. We all love her, she is even great with my three cats and other dogs, plus very intelligent and hard working! I also have a lab, Shepard mix who was also a rescue. He is awesome. very smart and learns quickly. Than another pit, Shepard mix. Also great with the kids and ever one else... They are all great dogs. none have bed qualities because they know that they were saved, by being rescued! so if your looking for a good dog with kids and teenagers, I would suggest that it is a large size breed and also a rescued dog, you would be teaching your kids a great lesson with adoption! a great rescue site is

good luck and remember dont breed or buy while shelter pets die!

I have 2 Australian Shepherd mixes. They are brother and sister, but look totally different than the other. They are both great with kids, but are a very high-energy type of dog. My female dog " Lady " really loves my 3 yr old, but sometimes is a bit clumsy and knocks him down or hits him with her tail. My male dog " Bo-Bo " is alot calmer than his sister. Hes more scared and wary of loud noises and new people. They are great dogs if you can keep up with them, but if they get bored, they will be destructive and will chew on anything they see.
