Simply because when it comes to religion people are always looking for some higher power to tell them what to do and think. It make people feel like they have purpose. Sadly enough, people also are to lazy to do the work. So it's easier for them to have a religious person tell them whats in the bible then actually "show it to them" or "have them read it". And they don't even back up there theories because they don't need to because 9 out of 10 Christians don't question there preacher, priest and holly men. Which is how the church likes it. That gives them the power over the masses of poor ignorant people who are wanting a reason to be. And they believe it so much and shout and scream it to everyone that doesn't. Yet they probable have a bible but have never actually picked it up before. But then again why would they have to? They have people to do that for them.

I preach all the time. I never condemn and I have not had any trouble understanding the Bible. Before I was saved I used to think the same way you do. After I was saved I realized that no Christians ever condemned me and I could suddenly understand everything in the Bible. It was the Holy Spirit that was condemning me. That's enough proof of GOD alone for the rest of my life. But there is so much more on this side man. I could never explain it in words.

If that is what you think and feel then why bother with us..why acknowledge us...and quite frankly, to class everyone as doing that I think is wrong...and I think that there is a lot wrong with that blanket question. I think a lot of non believers do a heck of alot of 'preaching' bad stuff about God and about us and do a lot of condemning also..so how about the pots quit calling the kettles black..and let's all learn some manners...and respect..it might make a nice change.

There are some who do not practice what they preach. Don't put everybody in that group. There are some atheist with no morals at all but that does not include every atheist
The Bible is there if people choose to read it--reading it is not mandatory. You cannot judge what a man know by looking at him.

Why did _________ (fill in the person's name you are thinking of) preach and condemn so much, but know so little about their own Bible and religion?

Please don't base what you think about God on what other human beings do whether they call themselves Christians or not. No human being, except Jesus while He lived on earth (since he was fully God and fully human), can set that perfect example for you.

Where are you going to hear all the preaching and condemning anyway? And, how do you know they don't know their Bible unless you know it perfectly well yourself, in which case I ask you, if you truly know and understand the Bible, why don't you believe it? Just curious.

I disagree. We preach what the bible says...if we condemn something than talk to God it is his word. I think most of us know plenty of or Bible and Religion. Maybe it's not that we don't know but that your not getting the answers from us you want to hear

I am always surprised by how many people who are non-religious think that they understand the Bible. I myself have read only about half of the Bible but I have read it from eyes of no faith to reading it with eyes of faith and there are two completely different meanings behind the words offered for our reading...

The Holy Spirit tells of things TOTALLY different from what is written.. sometimes (or most times) not evenly remotely related to what is being read.. but the reading allows the Holy Ghost to speak to me.. the same thing happens during talks at Church.

Their shouters don't want them to think or seek knowledge. The good flock gives money in the church and spews rote rot outside the church. That doesn't take thought or individualism, and they can be all comfy and reinforced by other sheep.

Quella: How many times did Jesus ask to not have to go through with the crucifixion and what does that say about the statement, "jesus died for our sins."

And I suppose YOU are going to instruct them-one who probably never read a single book out of the bible? How is it you obviously know so little, and yet feel qualified to make such a sweeping generalization? Have you always been so stupid?
