Scenario:

I'm driving a compact car. I'm drving exactly 25 mph. You're sitting at a red light, totally unaware in a mid-sized SUV such as a Toyota 4-runner, late model. I hit your dead square on your bumper. My bumper sits lower then yours, so the only place I impact your vehicle is the bumper. Remember, it's a"square" impact. Three passengers occupy your vehicle. One is sitting in the rear seat, two other in the front.

What injuries would you expect from said accident? I know what ours were, but I'm curious to know what you all would think?

Please take into consideration ALL the factors above. Be reasonable with your responses. Thank you!

I would think all they would have is some soreness in the neck, and maybe some whiplash. Other than that the seat belts and harnesses would prevent anything else.

any injuries would be based on some additional factors, such as were they sitting back, leaning forward, heads straight, turned, relaxed, tense, etc. expected injuries may include light whiplash, hitting head on some surface, and many others. even something as simple as a minor accident can cause life-long problems such as tmj, a condition which causes severe headaches and joint discomfort in the jaws. a small jerk against something can cause so many little as well as severe problems, you would be surprised. i had a minor accident, and my wife has had two major surgeries to help correct a jaw condition from her hitting a window slightly, but at a critical angle.

been there done that two years ago. acura CL 2 door coupe, vs. ford escape. i rear ended the ford escape squarely from behind going about 23 miles per hour in rush hour traffic. ford escape sustained some damage to the bumper and that's about it. not injuiries reported from that driver. my car basically went under the bumper, no air bags deployed, scrunched up my hood of my car, broke the radiator and otherwise caused $13,000 worth of damage. no injuries to me either except stiff neck and back.

the most damage is going to happen to the small compact car, not the SUV. The SUV is high enough up in the air, that the compact will go under the bumper. or pretty low on the bumper.

hope that helps!

Best thing is to go to court and plead no contest. You can talk to the Court da and see if they will reduce it or at least give you more time to pay. In court, I would just be sincere, dress well and hope for the best. Maybe offer driving class as an option? Also AAA may offer some legal help if you are a member. Good luck!

well a square on 25mph rear-ending isn't all the bad. I had this happen, i had a ford taurus and got hit buy a saturn sdn. no one was hurt at all, but i had to get a new muffler cause the saturn drove under my taurus. the saturn front end was pretty well smashed in and they needed a new car out of the deal.

In the SUV, I once owned If someone rear ended me my air bags would have released...If I rear ended someone and my bumper went under thiers, ,,It would take out my fog lights,,
Possibly hitting thier fuel tank.
As for the law,,I'd be most likeily found at fault.for most reasons even dumb ones at times.
