I'm originally from San Diego, and I always enjoyed Mr. Sushi in the Pacific Beach area. I'm not sure if they are still there, but if they are check them out on Garnet Avenue.
Also, there is a very good place called Ichiro Japanese Restaurant in Kearny Mesa, on Convoy Street.
Enjoy!!

The best sushi in San Diego and anywhere else for that matter is Sushi Ota on Mission Bay Drive. You usually need to make a reservation for dinner.

If you're looking for rolls two of my favorite places are
Jump Tokyo
10450 Friars Rd, San Diego, CA
They have about a hundred rolls to choose from. All there rolls are posted on the wall and it all very delicious. If you become a regular they'll even hook you up with with a couple extra mini-mini rolls.

The other place that is about a block away is
Sushi 4 U
10330 Friars Rd, San Diego

They don't have as many rolls but what they do have is exceptional. I love to get their red catepillar roll. Their salmon sashimi is great as well.

I'm sorry but Sushi Deli Too, Downtown, is by far the best. They have cheap prices, great everything and you can get a beer and sake for $5.50. They do get pretty busy but it's worth the wait.
