I have an automatic watch which runs 5 minutes fast a day. Is that normal, or should it be 5 minutes a month?

If the watch is running consistently fast it needs to be adjusted. Even five minutes a month is too much for a good watch. Take it to a jeweler for regulating.

Your watch is broken. No watch should run fast unless it was designed to do that.

Good Luck!

It means that the oscillator has been 'trimmed' incorrectly. When accurately adjusted, it shouldn't gain or lose more than a few seconds per -year-.
