I've heard that they are very smart and trainable, but not all that friendly. If you are not an animals person, maybe you should spend more time around them before you decide to get one, just to be sure it's what you really want. After all, an animal is a 10-20 year commitment.

You admit you are not much of an animal person but want a poodle because they are cute? Get real. Dogs need alot of attention and affection. Leave the dogs to people who will love them and will give them a wonderful home. They are not stuffed animals after all.

Poodles are very good pets and more human-like than most dogs. They are very intelligent and good with other animals too. They do require special grooming. I do mine myself, but most people don't seem to. They have a gentle temperament but can defend themselves if necessary.

Yes, I currently have 3 & they are smart little clowns. Keep in mind they need to be groomed on a regular basis. That means brushing them daily, finding a groomer to give them a haircut every 4-6 weeks, & keeping their ears & eyes clean. They are very smart, easily trained, active, don't shed & don't have a doggy smell. Be sure to do your research before getting any dog.

my first dog was poodle and she went every where with me. I loved her dearly but have not ever had another.
I'm into terriers now and even have a pit bull.
It all depends on the owner...but I think they are lots of fun, do great tricks, lots of energy, barkers..but they can be trained and they are smart!
you didn't specify toy or standard so...check out the link for more info!
