Those first four answers are totally uncalled for. I hope that none of you are ever touched by a tragedy.

I can't believe the answers to this it's very disrespectful.
Obviously he had a malfunction and could have bailed out but he sacrificed himself to make sure the F18 won't hit any people down there. Unlike some foreign airshows that many people died because the pilot bailed and the jet went in the crowd.
It might have been a foreign object hitting the intake and causing a flameout, those F18's are very agile and they won't stall so easily and a mechanical failure is not an option because these jets are cared for like babies, they get lots of maintenance and don't fly a lot like their counterparts overseas

for sure you're a moron for bringing the oh-so-logical religious argument into play. Flying extreme overall performance fighter jets is inherently risky even nonetheless Blue Angels pilots are between the main elite interior the army. Many factors might have contributed to right this moment's tragedy, even something so trivial as a chook strike that could regularly reason engine failure. RIP LCDR Davis.

It was one of the Solo planes (#6). Lt. Cmdr. Kevin Davis, 32, of Pittsfield, Mass. Call sign"Kojak"

Bad deal. Witnesses accounts seem to indicate he lost power then a tree strike. Maybe a bird strike? No reason for a compressor stall or flame-out given the easy maneuvers they were performing at the time. Sounds like he rode it to the ground to try not to hit any of the houses.

A hero to the end.
