Not really. 5.8ghz would be the most practical one to get.

It is more a question of is it cheap enough. The phone shouldn't retail for more than 20 or 30 $ as it is quite obsolete. Other than that it is ok. Most 900 meg pho's will get you out in the yard a good ways, but not down the street and over to the neighbors like a higher frequency phone will do.

5.8 GHz is better, the general rule is the higher up the better. But also look at whether the phone is Analog, Digital, or DSS/FHSS. It could be argued (and I would tend to agree) that a 900 MHz phone that was DSS is better than a 5.8GHz that is Analog. Of course the best of the best would be 5.8GHz DSS.

My phone is 900 mhz and it works good. It also gets good distance. I can go about 400 feet in my back yard and it will still come in.
