No, not in the sense that the common cold is contagious. However, the feelings of persecution can stimulate similar feelings in others, which is not the same thing. People in groups tend to agree with each other and tend to follow the leader. If a paranoiac starts expressing their misgivings about things in general, there will be people listening who will tend to agree.
It is only called paranoia until it happens to you.

This coming from a paranoid schizophrenic: It doesn't seam to be contagious to people around me because they dismiss my thinking about things as a mental illness, and half of the time they don't agree with a word I say. If someone is paranoid have them checked out by a phsyciatrist.

If you are within a group of friends and strangers who are high on illicit drugs, yeah, paranoia can definitely be contagious. If one jumps, normally everyone else starts to panic, too.

Not such thing is possible...
Unless you are at the stage of having paranoia...So if you are around somebody that has paranoia then you mentally get aware of that happening so you might develop paranoia...
But contagious NOT.

Not like a disease, but it does fall under "group think" and "mass hysteria." Nobody knows why it happens. It can be strange like the victems in India that believed that a guy dressed up as a monekey was attacking people, when in fact the victems were injuring themselves. It can also become deadly. In South America, a tribe suddenly attacked a tour bus because they though the tourists were going to take their children away.

Yes it is ! all my friends and family say it is not but really and truly it is, all the folk I know are involved in this plot of denial, re this painful topic.
It is not that I am paranoid it is just that everybody hates me; although they deny it if asked ... hope you find this helpful but deep down I know that you of course WON'T

Sort of. Animals living in groups pick up a sense of wariness from their neighbors....it's a survival instinct.
