Hi,

Recent Plasma models have improved the quality of their phosphor-based display system to help resist burn-in. They also use techniques like moving the image very slightly over a period of time to prevent burn-in.

That said, it is best to take some precautions, especially during the first 200 hours of use. Most recommendations I have seen say that you should not freeze or pause any image for more than 20 minutes at a time.

Also, avoid keeping an image with large static areas on the TV for more than an hour at a time. This means things like static back-grounds while playing games, or the static bands on the side for 4:3 standard def images...

Look at the web page I have listed as my source. You will find a few more pointers and details there...

Good luck... enjoy your TV! :)

A recent report said that that the first 200 hours are the most critical, then the next 1,000 hours are somehow critical and after that it should behave like a CRT.

For the first 200 hours avoid watching in 4:3 mode for long periods of time. Avoid also playing games with static images in the background.
