I recently got a 50" Mitsubishi Projection tv , I think its a VS-50705 I know it was made in Feb 2001. Anyway when I plug it in the power button on the front flashes 4 or 5 times. When I go to turn it on the screen starts to warm up and then after about 5 seconds it turns itself off. I've taken basic electronics when i was in school and I am usually pretty good at fixing things. I talked to a repair shop and they told me it would cost $350-375 for them to fix. I know how to test and change components but have no idea where to start. I have checked all the fuses and theyre good.

Rear projection TVs usually turn off due to heat issues.
Check if the fans work. Maybe the light bulb needs to be replaced.

Without a service manual it would be rather hard to fix yourself. I would take it to the repair shop.
