I wouldn't say that Michael is officially the worst Nascar driver ever but he sure is lacking in the talent department. He has been in Nascar for 20 years and only has 4 wins...and all 4 of those wins came at restrictor plate race tracks. One of his Daytona 500 wins came about because Nascar called the race due to raining.

And I'm sorry...but just because you win the Daytona 500, that does not mean that you are a great, good or decent driver. Look at Derrike Cope...he won the Daytona 500 back in 1990 and he can't even make a race.

What do you really mean? There is no way he is the worst driver ever. He has three wins, including two Daytona 500's. He drove for DEI, one of the better teams out there. He had the respect of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. The man hired Waltrip to drive for his team. Hundreds of drivers have competed in Cup and never won.

What criteria should we use to determine the WORST driver ever? How about no wins, to start. It could be someone that never finished on the lead lap. Maybe it is some driver that never finished better than 40th in all their starts. That is not Michael Waltrip.

This rules out Juan Pablo Montoya. He has wins in F1, won the Indy 500 and the CART championship. It also rules out Kyle Petty, as well. He has eight wins, including at least two where he lapped the field. That is not the worst driver ever. Even Robert Presley cannot be called the worst. He has wins in Busch. Anyone who claims he is the worst obviously never saw him race, and win, on short tracks like Asheville, Hickory or Myrtle Beach.

Is Michael Waltrip the driver with the worst luck? Maybe. Bad timing? Maybe. Bad judgment? Probably. Is he the worst driver ever? NO WAY!

Mikey's won the Daytona 500. With top-notch equipment & backing, Mikey can run.
Derrike Cope also has a 500 (his ONLY win, & it was a cheap one).
I'm thinking Dick Trickle at Zero for several hundred.
Or how about Robert Pressley, who still holds the record for most cars trashed per races run (Yeley is currently trying to catch him).
Or all the hundereds of other drivers who couldn't keep a ride long enough to get good.
For worst owner, how about Junie Donlavey? 50 years in the sport & only 1 win.
Mikey's had some really crappy luck as of late, but if he was really that bad, nobody'd remember his name.

NO! I think he has been struck with some challenges a a team owner and with a new manufacturer. Do I think he is a great driver? no. But he has won the Daytona 500 so its just alittle hard to call him the worst. Let's call it NEEDS TO IMPROVE.

No. You don't win 2 daytona 500's and be "the worst ever". I would say Robert Pressley and Buckshot Jones were running neck and neck for that title until they were both fired and never heard from again.
