Do Navy guys resent being called seamen?

I was around some people in the Navy when I was at training and there were a lot of them that were joking around and calling each other that name. I guess it depends on who the person is.

only one of the pay grades(E2, Seaman Apprentice) has been given a derisive nickname..sperm in training.
Other than that.. Navy Personnel refer to themselves as SAILORS, not Seamen.

None of my friends who joined the Navy do, nor do any of their buddies. Thats not to say that nobody resents or hates it, but nobody I know does.

My husband is in the Navy and he doesn't. Neither does anyone else in his unit, or any other Navy personnel.

I had asked my brother this, he says no. My brother had said the only time it had brother someone if the sailor's last name did not sound right with that rank. (example Seaman Sprinkles) There is a real sailor by that name.

depends on how you say it and if youre a seaman or not. obviously we know the joke, eg if youre not one and you say it in a mocking tone youll prolly get your rear stomped, but they callt ehmselves that and an officer calls an enlisted man that
