Because it is sexy.
In fact human body hair makes very little sense. The hair on our head protects us from the sun, the hair on our genitals is like an arrow pointing in the right direction. Some people argue our underarm hair acts like a lubricant (but others disagree).
The rest of our hair is simple a left over from a time when our ancestors actually had hair for the purpose of staying warm.
When you are cold you have goosebumps, which should make your hair stand up and keep you warm, but humans don't have enough hair for that to work.
So to answer your question, there is not point.

The hairs serve as a protector. It's not as noticeable in these areas, but that's what it's for.

To let you know which way the wind blows, but everyone knew that, with the exception of you obviously.
Hope that works for you.

Get them on the palms of your hands, and the soles of your feet, and I reckon you've got a REAL problem!
