If you ask a religious person a question, not to debunk their faith, but just to see what they believe as opposed to other religions, and they retort or bark at you, and don't answer the question...how would you take that? Personally I would think that they don't know the answer, or they are not willing to enlighten a person not of their religion...which by the way is wrong. Oh, and if you answer this question, please tell me your religion, I'm dying to know!

Here, I will tell you all the rest. My mother is a mormon, and I was reading in the bible today Luke 20:27-47, that when we die, we are no longer married, marriage is an earthly thing...the mormons believe that if you are sealed in the temple, you are married for always, and can actually continue to have kids in heaven. Today I told her about the scripture, and asked her about the sealing in the temple, just asked her if that is what she believes that they will still be together. She did not answer, she just blew up at me and to me that says, that she thinks that I am being an adversary. But really I was just asking her what she believes...that's it. I wasn't trying to prove her wrong, I wasn't trying to cast doubt, I just asked her about her beliefs. I think that just joining a church is a dangerous affair...so I ask people from all walks of life what they believe! That's all!

There are all manner of reasons a person has for replying in a bad manner. I don't think it necessarily is limited to Christian, just human. If there is a pattern from the same person over time maybe you have something there.
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, we are all teachers. Teachers love questions; can't get enough. We don't mind having to go look up the answer if we don't already know it. Questions, sincerely asked, mean a person needs an answer. Ours will come from the Bible, not what great aunt Sally told us long ago. I see clergy on TV with impressive sounding degrees trying to answer a talk show host's questions and they go on about some scholarly work of someone nobody ever heard of. Their answer is completely bogus of course. They could have simply turned to the appropriate scripture and settled the matter but, they were not capable of doing so.
Christian means followers of Christ. The main books written by those who knew him personally and frequently quoted by him are the 66 books of the Bible. But many people you would think should know the Bible, do not.
So, if they are not having just simply a bad day, I offer that as a reason.

I am a Catholic. Sometimes if you've seen a particular questioner ask the same question over and over and you've read their comments after a question was answered you get to know that the person is not really interested in the answer anyway so in those cases I see rude answers all the time and I can't say that I blame them but, for the most part I would answer in a manner that was frank and to the point without any rudeness. People that do not are not a good example of their Christianity unless of course it is a situation that I have already talked about.

It would be easier to answer your question if you gave an example of the type of question you mean. Taking it on faith that the question was not disrespectful or insulting, then there is no reason for anyone to take offense. Perhaps the person doesn't know the answer, and is afraid that by admitting that, they will look foolish. I am a Christian, but I can't answer every question about Christianity. I wasn't born knowing it all, and learning is a lifelong process. There is an old quote, I think by Goethe, which expresses it well: "I do not know everything; still many things I understand."

It all depend s on the context in which you are asking the question. If you are seeking the truth, then i'm sure you will get an honest straightforth response, but if the answerer feels you are just looking for an opening to attack their faith, they will give snide remarks to show their displeasure with your question. The Christian mission is to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. You can call a cow a dog, but that won't make it bark. There are a lot of barkers out there, but their not the real thing.

I'm a christian and can assure you that all Christians are not as you described... Secondly I want you to know all people that label themselves Christians are not necessarily Christians.
third... even if someone is christian they are still human and can have a bad day , week or month or maybe even yr just like a non believer... I will say there are quite a few hypocrites out there and they are continually on the rise.. in my 14 yrs as christian I have seen the church continually get worse but that doesn't mean there are no good Christians out there....
hope that helped...

It could be any number of things...... they could be so used to being ridiculed for their beliefs that they automatically assume everything is meant as ridicule.... and they automatically retort with rude comments. It could also be that they truly do not know anything, and the only possible way they have to respond is to bart at you. It's also a possibility that they're arrogant peckerheads that don't want to see the contradictions in their religious beliefs so they bark at you & call you rude or arrogant for criticizing their religion.

first the way you tell what someone is true is very simple, in Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them.
Take verses in context read the verses around that verse to make sure its true, don't make a paper Jesus, that is i like some verses but if i read it all then it won't mean what i want when you do that your bowing down to a idol, and NOT The God of Heaven and Earth and i happen to be A Seventh Day Adventist Christian free bible lessons www.amazingfacts.org talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com God bless

I was raised Catholic, consider to be a Christian, although, what I ascertain is I don't need to be in a religion to connect, and have a relationship with God Jesus.
I talked with two priest at two different times, on the abilities that I see spirits and can connect to the spiritual world at times and that God presence intervene to me once, and other things that have happened. The first priest never said a word, either he thought I was nuts, or didn't believe me, perhaps he thought I was testing him in some way.
The second one talk to me, he was knowledgeable, and understanding.
I hope my example was able to help you in some way.

Woof! just kidding, a lot of these people don't have many life experiences to speak from, they're sheltered, possibly spoiled compared to others and they honestly have no comprehension of the fact that not everybody had the exact same blessings and choices they did--summarized version, they snap at you because they cannot relate

I try not to guess what is going on in someone else' mind but such behavior does cause me to wonder. I give them the benefit of the doubt and conclude that perhaps they were just having a bad day. Jehovah's Witness.
