Do you think the VA Tech shooting was caused by something more than what the disturbed man actually said it was caused by? He said it was because of all the rich people in the world and all the bullied kids, but doesn't that seem a little unlikely that he would do it because of that? Either it was caused by something else, or it had no cause, just a disturbed individual wanted to kill a bunch of innocent people?

The stigmatization of mental illness will continue with the comments made by the other posters.

The young man was clearly psychotic and delusional. No one could help him. Sadness results. The shooter's own family, being hard-working immigrants, could do nothing for him and they responded with shame as traditional in Korean culture.

I have mental illness; I was arrested at gunpoint and spent 30 days in jails and psychiatric institutions. I accepted that I had a problem and received help and treatment. Any degree of mental illness takes away a person's insight and awareness. I was sleeping 15 hours a day in deep depressions for days and weeks at a time. Treatment has worked and treatment is a lifelong situation for me to avoid relapse and further trouble. My day of infamy came 27 years after I realized that a black cloud hovered over me. Today, I share my experiences with others hoping that someone else starts down that difficult road called recovery....

But of course, dismal people seeing only their dismal life.Never being able to see them self as anything but a looser. They have no talent for singing. They lack the look to be an actor. They are looking for their name become immortal in history. It's a virtual Jesse James syndrome. Can't be famous well known for one thing they look towards the unthinkable.just my opinion.

Oh don't you just love a tragedy which turns to a gun debate.Of course Europe doesn't have many situations of mass murder involving a gun. They use bombs there.Timothy McVeigh didn't use a gun he used a bomb. You will never completely prevent someone from doing harm to another if they truly desire to.Brittan and other European countries actually have a statistic for murders committed with a jump rope. The police were some of the first to wear protective armor for stabbing devices.Criminals don't play by the rules and you will never change that.911 had no guns involved and look at the damages there.

He did the shooting. He gave his reasons such as they were. There is nothing beyond that. No conspiracy, no agenda. Just a disturbed moron willing to kill.

Welcome to America.
Land of the free. Home of the stupid liberals.

ONE legally carried concealed weapon carried by faculty, staff, or the students could have lessened the death toll dramatically.

Gun free zone my butt. Look at what 1 shooter did.

Edit:

Yes I am an NRA member. I'm also a Police Officer. This didn't have to happen the way it did.

This kind of stuff doesnt happen in Europe and other civilized countries bc they dont allow FREE ACCESS to guns like we do. Guns dont kill people, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE and moreso here than in any other country. We need to make sure people are SANE before we allow them thier constitutional right to bear arms. I think he just didn't have a social life. he was frustrated with himself and wanted to give the blame to other people. Basically he had big issues and was not feeling happy about himself. maybe he was jelous of these "rich people" as he calls and felt that they were mean to him......................The boy had problems.

This guy was a nut, plain and simple. Nothing that he said makes any sense. What seemed logical and justified to him would seem illogical and crazy to us.
