Well DONE!
Before you assume to know others, know thy self!
Here is your reality check. You are female, black and young.
You will need to work harder, smarter, faster and be twice as good as ANY one in that room, Do it with grace and patience and plan to get only half the respect. That is the truth. So don't fail. This will be hard, no matter the major! Let the others assume, and you quietly race past them and win the prize!
Respect is earned at this level, so work harder than ever! Set the example of a brillant woman. Mold yourself now-dress and act that way everyday. This is great advise, please heed it. Talk openly to your professor and become approachable, don't kiss up. Hold them in esteem, even if they don't deserve it. [that's the hard part].
Here are some tips. On everyone of your books and notebooks simply write the words [ FOCUS & COMMIT].
That is your personal resolve for the duration of the college commitment or your degree.
Before you make any personal choices, question if it will dilute the [focus and commitment] of that project, day, week, semester or goal of educaton. You will find that this little thing will make a lot of choices easier for you. It will make you a leader .
Focus your dreams, don't Follow them! Make them happen.
Life is short, do it all baby!
Best wishes.

I am 41 dear! I am a mother, wife and work like Hell! Balance, Organization, Compassion and Faith is needed.
I am a small business owner. 22 years in sports medicine, 10 years in Sculpture and Fine arts, Minister for 14 years.
I have never needed my degree for a "job" nor do I ever brag about it, its "mine" and its the "brass ring" in my pocket. The personal pride of achievement in so many things. You would never know that to meet me. I'm so laid back and love diversity.
So let your heart make your dreams come true, too much education will not kill you, yet it will make you a lion in a herd of zebra, so be prepared. You will be misunderstood.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. I look forward to reading your incredible works of literature in the future. Be the lion, change our world.

I actually have a B.A. in English (creative writing emphasis) with a minor in Journalism. I chose to get a degree in creative writing because I had this grand fantasy that I was going to be a novelist when I grew up. Well, I've grown up and I am a novelist (small press). But I've learned the hard way that most novelists have to keep their day jobs and only about 1% of novelists can actually make a living writing fiction (the romance and/or mystery genres are your best bet). Luckily I also write non-fiction. Non-fiction pays better. The job I have that actually pays my bills is in accounting. Go figure.
Oh, and I do have a degree in metaphysics and a certification in homeopathy, but I kind of look at those as subjective. Yeah - I took classes and put a lot of work into them, but it was mostly for my own edification. Same thing with seminary training. It only matters to me and I did it for myself.

I have a degree. I was a math major. I am still an expert in algebra. I have forgotten some of the higher stuff. Why I chose that field, math was easy for me and I really didn't know what I wanted to do.

I have a degree in Industrial Manufacturing Technology. Currently interested in Artificial Intelligence and Adaptive Technology for handicapped individuals. I have always been interested in how things work, and mechanically inclined.
If you want to get into writing, I strongly recommend Stephen King's book "On Writing". The audio version is best.

Next week I will have an Associates degree in elementary education, but I have to transfer to a university to get my bachelors. I want to have fun at work and have time off when my kids do. I would love to be a writer, and maybe someday I will find time for that. Good luck.
