If we are not to take oaths, how can a person get married, or testify in court? Does this fact that we are not to make oaths, have anything to do with when Jesus said, ----- As in the days of Noah, they were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, and knew not til the flood came and took them all away ? Is it not good to marry ?

There's a little difference between oaths, like "I swear by God,..." and vows, which is really just a solemn declaration. Marriage uses vows, not oaths. When I had to go to court once, I told the judge I couldn't swear and he said, "Instead of saying 'I swear,' just say, 'I affirm.'" An affirmation is like Jesus said, about letting your 'yes' be 'yes', and your 'no' be 'no'. So it's all good if you just try your best to stick with Jesus' teaching. There are ways to still make things work without disobeying Him.

It is speaking of oaths in a court room. Where one has to swear to tell the truth. If you take this oath " swearing to tell the truth so help you God", it is saying to make sure you do so and not to use your oath in vain or the name of the Lord.

marriage "vow" not "oath"
the oath was used to assure they were telling the truth not lying, and they used God's name to do so, he's saying just say yes or no,
and I've come to find out even if you take a oath people believe what they choose anyways

It means not to swear. Often people will say something and then add,"I swear."
