I put her in a hospital tank with medicine, but I don't know if it will work or not. The medicine is called "Fungus Clear" and the active ingredients are: nitrofurazone, furazolidone, and potassium dichromate. The box states that: "Will clear fungus and bacteria fast!" Are cloudy eyes the sign of bacteria/fungii and will this medicine work?

If not... what can I do to save her?

Thanks for the great advice... The cloudiness is only in the eyes, and not in the surrounding areas, however, when viewed from above, it is evident that its not just on the surface of the eye, but inside. If you look at the arowana from above it looks as if she has a tuft of cotton in her eyes. No specks, just cloudy "tufts".

Eye cloudiness can be an indication of a fungal infection, but if you can see distinct spots within the eyes, your arowana might have eye flukes (a parasite). This is more commonly seen in wild-caught fish (which your arowana as a baby might have been) and is transmitted by snails (which may have been introduced into your tank at another time). See the link below for treatment options if you notice the white specks. Nitrofurazone and furazolidone are antibiotics, so will not help either cause, but will help prevent secondary infections. Potassium permanganate is a fungicide and will work against the flukes as well, so this may work against either possible cause.

Copperhead has given you very good advice here. I would any add a little to it, a third possibility. If the cloudiness is strictly on the surface of the eye, it's probably a bacterial infection. If, as copperhead said if you see stuff deeper in the eye, it's probably a parasite and I would suggest Clout as a potential treatment. Third, if it's a covering on the eye that extends off the eye onto the surrounding area, it's possibly a protozoan infestation, which your current medication should handle for you. In my opinion what you have will get two out of three possibilities and those would account for 90% or more of the eye problems you describe. Personally, I would stick with that treatment and if you don't see improvement in the next 3-4 days post a new question with the updated info and we can see if anything has changed that would lead to a different diagnosis.
