I've used Clairol curling irons for years and they are not very expensive (about 20$). I've had great results. Visit your local drug store to look at one. I really like the ones that shut off automatically after 1 hour - so I don't burn the house down if I accidentally leave it on!

My Chi was a little bit over $100s, you want the small thin ones. It is used by professionals and used and owrked on African American hair. If you want a good hair straightner your gonna have to spend some money and your not gonna want to go to Wal-mart or something like that.

to be honest every ones hair is different and reacts differently with the curling irons u need to find one that has the correcrt barrle siz for the type of curls you want and try and get one with different heat setting so you can experiment that always helps

I also use Chi hair straightner. You can get it for about $95 at www.folica.com.

I've had other cheap brands like Clairol and Revlon, and they do not work as well. You will definitely get your money's worth with the Chi flatiron.
