National City is a major bank, at least in my part of the US. ALL secured credit cards require a deposit. You open a savings account and pledge the balance as security in case you don't pay the bill on your card. Your credit limit is usually the same as the amount deposited. They are basically letting you borrow your own money and reporting payments to the credit bureaus.

I've heard of national city bank, there are a few even where I live. A secured credit card requires you to have money in the bank to cover what you spend on the card, it's like a credit building card. I know this practice is legitimate, but I can't say that what you have is for sure the real thing. If there is a number, give them a call, or check out the business with the Better Business Bureau, you can even check online. It sounds ok, but it's always better to check it out if you doubt it.

I have heard of National City Bank and they are reputable and well-established here in Ohio.
A secured credit card is different from a regular one. Your deposit amount (how much money they want you to put into the account) is usually based on your credit history. They will ask you a lot of questions...most credit applications do.

guaranteed because you will give them money first. Unless you were already looking for financing, stay away. If you are looking, compare their product to a local bank, to get a sense of the services.

If you walk into any bank, and ask do you have product comparable to this, you will likely get an answer of yes.

Have not heard of national city bank. Seems like a very bland name, in this day and age of Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Wachovia being just about everywhere.

Good Luck
