Sadly, we live in a society where they might not be able to admit their beliefs in order to pursue their chosen vocation. With all the pride we take in our secular society, most people must admit it will be "a cold day in hell" before an admitted atheist would ever be elected to the white house. Such is our American hypocrisy.

Wouldn't it be awesome if an atheist could lie about his past, pretend to be religious, become president, and they deny god? Sorta the way G.W. Bush duped Americans into believing he had an education.

Atheism is frowned upon in American politics. Also if you say the Bible god liked to do magic tricks, to administer collective punishment, and was subject to immature emotions, you will be frowned upon; and don't even try running for any kind of office.

Not any that want to be elected or re-elected. 90% (or more) of the voters believe in some sort of higher power, and are scared by atheism.
