Being Catholic means being heir to all the best that God has to offer, in both this life and the next.

It also means being responsible for the welfare (both temporal and spiritual) of everyone else, without exception ... because that's what love is all about.

Being Catholic means that you have enough faith to risk everything ... even your life ... when and if God asks you to, without counting the cost.

Being Catholic requires that we be faithful and obedient to the Church Jesus founded, even as Jesus was obedient to his Father in heaven, because God remains at the head of the Catholic Church, just as he always was, and always will be.

Being Catholic also means believing that God's grace has the power to transform everyone and everythng ... and that all will eventually be transformed as the result of Jesus' perfect and propitiatory sacrifice ... whether we do our jobs or not, because God is sovereign over all, and his divine will is supreme.

Finally, being Catholic is to be revelling constantly in the Peace that the angels proclaimed the night Jesus was born ... the Peace that finally made it possible for man to be reconciled with God, in Christ Jesus ... the same Peace we Catholics proclaim during every Mass, right after Jesus has become present for us there, on the altar.

May the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, bless you and keep you. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, all the angels, and all the saints, never fail to interceed on your behalf, and may the grace of God lead you and all those whom you love, to eternal glory!

A Hypocrite think they are better than everybody else, and then go and break all the Rules. I left many Years ago my Family were all Religeous Maniacs. I had a load of Ancient Uncles and Aunts who were Born in the 1870s and by the time 1965 came along they were nearly all Dead. They had very Peculiar Ideas about every thing many Taboos that are not heard of today and they were very mean . My Father and Mother were very Poor when I was Young and the Uncles and Aunts would not give them anything to help them in the way of money and they had plenty of it .But they were always Snooping around to see if they my Parents were going to Church and watching my sister and myself to make sure we were always sent to Religeon. I had a Grand Aunt who would use a chord to whip Herself on the back for Penance and always made sure we heard her praying and whipping herself as we went past her Room our Family lived upstairs in the same House. I had the Three Aunts living Downstairs it was a Big Tenement House and we all paid Rent to the Landlord. I had other Relations living in the same Street and they were all very mean People. I stopped having an Interest in Religeon when i was 13 1/2.

I am Anglo Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Not all "Catholics" are of Rome. There is the whole Eastern Church too.

Anyway... to me Catholic means a belief that can trace its roots to the Apostles. Is based on not the bible alone, but also on Holy Tradition and Reason. It means 'smells and bells", or holy ritual which is very mystical and deep. It is based on a set of solid theology. It means we don't have to take Jesus off the cross until his work here is done. It means that I don't have to stand on the street corner and "save people".

Being Catholic means everything to me. Being a part of the faith that does justice. Being Christ's love in the world. Being in community with everyone as my brother or sister. Being a servant to all creation, The suffering and the sacrifice. Doing the acts of love he could not do in his short life on earth. Carrying others burdens and accepting my own. Loving all who come across my path with no questions, judgements, or demands.

It means that I have accepted that Jesus is my savior and has redeemed me. It doesn't mean I can't fail. I must do my best to live as God would have me to live. If I fail I must ask for God's forgiveness.
It also teaches that morality is involved in all of our dealings with our fellow man, at home, in the workplace, in business.
It means I can receive Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
The Church teaches that God is in everything that is good. Even the atheist who lives a moral life does so because he is born in the image and likeness of God.
The Communion of Saints means I have friends in high places.
