There is nothing wrong with the old covenant, through the old covenant is the knowledge of sin. The new covenant allows us to be freed from the bondage the old covenant brings.
Namely that we had to be perfectly sinless in order to get to heaven. (No human is perfectly sinless except Jesus)
Jesus frees us from that bondage in the sense that he died for our sins and suffered God's wrath for them that we may be perfectly blameless in God's sight with the righteousness of Christ. Thus Christ fulfills the old covenant for us.

The Old one was a type (shadow) of the New covenant brought by the perfect sacrifice of Christ the Lamb of God. The 1st covenant could not remove sin, only cover them. The New Covenant brings us to the place where we can have fellowship directly with the Father. See Hebrews Ch 9&10 also John ch 12 and 14. God bless you-

The old covenant only condemned man. Because he could not keep the law. The New covenant changes the heart of man so his sins are forgiven he has a new heart, a new spirit, that does not wish to sin. Read Romans and Hebrews. It's beautiful .

The new covenant is of grace which saves not law which condemns.

the old covenant was so hard to follow it had hundreds of rules and the jews could not keep them all. a few of them were :
#1 .
One week before your menstrual flow and one week after you should not come near to your wife to have sexual relations.
#2.
After touching something unclean you were unclean for 7 days.
#3.
Do not drink from a pond or well with a dead animal in it.
#4.
If your husband died childless your brother in law would marry you even if he were already married and get you pregnant and the first born son would inherit the family belongings and carry on the name.

The law was to make transgressions manifest until the seed (Jesus) would arrive. It was our tutor leading to Christ. It proved that all men fell short of the glory of God.
we are under a new command to love God with our whole heart , mind, and soul and to love our neighbor as ourself.

The people of the world were given many chances to repent and come to God. Thanks to God's Mercy he came to earth to be among his people as Truly God and Truly Man. His old covenant was being broken by those he chose to save. The new covenant was used to wipe away the sin and to teach that if man truly repents and changes he to will be with Jesus in paradise.

The old covenant was temporary, limited in scope, and was only intended to last until Jesus came.

The new covenant contains all the special gifts that God would only deliver in-person.

We couldn't keep the old one. All throughout the Bible man failed at keeping God's law. The only way to attone was to have a high priest perform a sacrificial offering for God's people. When Christ came he came to do away with the old convenant and give us a new one - His sacrifice on the cross and a new way of being right with God, as well us a new commandment to love one another. Through his blood sacrifice and the acceptance of Him us our Saviour we are now made right with God. It was an amazing gift from God. His Son for our Sin!

The old was law, the new is grace. Paul said no one could bear the burden of the old. The law was "nailed to the cross". Christians live by being born again of the Spirit, not by law. The law is still in effect for those who do not believe in Christ.

The old covenant didn't actually save anyone. It required the sacrifice of God himself to reedem people from their sins.
