Well, you're close (1992). From Wikipedia...
Some point out that Pope John Paul II made an apology for the treatment which Galileo received in a speech to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in 1992. The apology was for the treatment Galileo received and declared the incident to be based on a "misunderstanding".

It was probably around the 1990's that the roman catholic church realized that the sun didnt revolve around it. Just kidding, hope I didn't step on any toes.

Pointless to ask, the RCC still teaches many mythologies and scientific impossibilities as a matter of doctrine. The best thing a Pope could do is come into the 21st century and just admit, "well we actually have been a bit incorrect on a few things. The Teacher is back and that we can prove, so let's allow him to set things straight"

Not quite - They didn't apologize to Galileo until the mid '90's.
I think they acknowledged that bit of reality a little earlier.

False. They were actually among the earliest supporters of Galileo until he started speaking against the Church.

Not quite. In the mid 90's they rehabilitated Galileo. In the Catholic church, to "rehabilitate" someone means to clear their name, historically speaking.
Joan of Arc, one of my patron saints, was also rehabilitated. She was burnt as a witch by the Catholic church, then, nearly 500 years later, was rehabilitated and declared a saint. Go figure.

True (I think it was the 90s). I believe the scientist to whom the official acceptance was given said, "Better late than never".
