I did a search picking random dates in July. Air Canda quotes about 1200USD and American Airlines quotes 2200 USD.

Connecting in Toronto with AC and in Miami and Dallas with AA.

Find a good travel agent and they should be able to help you. Pearson Airport in Toronto is one of the most expensive airports in the world, and I would think that some of the user fees will end up in the price of your ticket.

Or you can experiment online and see if your travel agent can find something as good or better for you.

By "passing through" do you mean land travel?
Land travel, and most everything else, is cheaper in the U.S. than in Canada.

if you mean staying in hotels in a large city between flights, then it doesn't make a lot of difference, large cities in both countries are comparable in costs.
