Not all Christians eat pork. I'm a Christian and I choose not to eat pork because Deuteronomy 14:8 says not to and because Jesus didnt change that part of the Old Testament. At the same time, I don't judge other Christians about what they choose to eat or not eat. Everyone has their reasons why they choose to eat or not eat certain things according to their beliefs. Colossians 2:16-17 16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Romans 14:20-21 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense. 21 It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak.

Some of the foods in that group - pork, shrimp, lobster, catfish, shark. (there's others, I didn't look them up)
In the old testament, the law, God told the Hebrews that they must do these things and follow a bunch of rules. It was kinda like when you tell your kids that they must eat their veggies. It's good for them to do it, but you're not going to give them the choice to miss out on the blessing. The purpose of the law though was to show people that we are not able to keep the law up to God's standard (perfection), and so we need a savior.
Jesus came, and fulfilled the law. We now understand that it's not possible to "be good enough" to get to heaven, but we need the free gift of salvation through faith in Christ. Now, all things are legal, but not all things edify - that means that we're allowed to eat pork, shrimp, etc. but it's still bad for us - as medical documentation shows. If you live anywhere near a power plant lake, ask what they do when the water gets too contaminated - they stock more CATFISH in the lake. Not any other kind of fish, just catfish. Then voila! The water gets un-contaminated. God made creatures like the catfish to absorb toxins from their environment.
Note that the "clean", "un-clean" issue about what goes into and out of your mouth is not refering to physical health issues. Jesus was not saying that "What you eat won't kill you, only what you say." He was saying that what you eat doesn't make you a dirty person in God's eyes, but that what you say shows what is in your heart, and that is important to God.
Believe me, what you eat CAN killl you. Watch "Super Size Me".

In the New Testament Peter is shown that it's all right to eat the foods that God has provided. So Christians are not breaking any Biblical standards by eating pork. You should always use your cross references in the Bible when you read. It gives you a better understanding.

The law with the statues and judgments are for all Israel (Jacob) (Mal.4:4, Gen.49:28, Ex.31:16-17). Offend in one point and one is guilty of all (James 2:10).
Those who are "led of the Spirit" (Gal.5:18, the church of God - 1 Cor.10:32), are not under the law. The laws are written in the believers' hearts and minds (Heb.10:17 below).

I wondered the same thing as a Catholic. Jews still follow this rule. Back when the scripture was written, it was sooo unhealthy to eat pork. They roll around in their own poo. The way the food industry is now though, they clean it so it's not dangerous to eat. Of course it's still unhealthy but it won't be as bad as it was back when that was written.

I have read, and can find no place where Jesus mentioned the eating of pork. Please let me know the reference, because I cannot find it.....Several times Apostle Paul wrote about how it was not even wrong to eat meat that had been offered to idols. Even today a Jew that keeps kosher may eat pork under some circumstances, but would be forbidden to eat meat offered to idols. So Paul, although he continued to keep the Law himself, said there were no restrictions on what Christians could eat.

God gave Paul a vision and told him not to call anything unclean that God has called clean.
God was declaring All food clean as well as declaring all people are loved by God, not just the Jewish people.
The Old Covenant was replaced by Gods New Covenant to humankind. Jesus fulfilled all the law, his followers are no longer subject to the old law, they have been redeemed.
God Bless You...Peace.

Mark 7:14 Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.' "[f]
17After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18"Are you so dull?" he asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him 'unclean'? 19For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.")
20He went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' 21For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.' "
Acts 10: 9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
10And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
11And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
12Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
13And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
14But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
15And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

That was part of the old law covenant..when Jesus died it was nailed to the torture stake with him. He fulfilled the law. We are not under all the rules God gave to the Jews.
You can eat pork and shellfish.

Jewish dietary laws were good common sense laws. For instance pork is tricky and needs special preservation and curing. They didn't have that in the Sinai wilderness and in Israel. They didn't have refrigeration.
