I can't imagine why you would want to. Apart, of course, from needing toilet paper.

I don't know about guys, but among women this seems to be acceptable. Everytime I go in to a public restroom, someone in the next stall tries to talk to me. A few times it is to ask for toliet paper, sometimes it is to ask for paper towels (if they are sick and have thrown up.), sometimes it is to ask for the number of a local cab company (if they are drunk, have had a fight with their husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.). Those I think are okay. But, most of the time, it is just chatty stuff and too much info....ie: man I have soo much gas...I m flowing so heavy.....I got blood on my skirt. Do you know how to get it out?...

Usually, yes, unless you're asking for toilet paper.
In some cultures, men approach each other for casual sex that way. If this is in an enviornment where this is accepted or expected, for example, certain bars and bathhouses, that's one thing. But if it's in a mainstream environment, it's inappropriate.
You sure do ask some interesting questions! Are you writing a sociology report or something?

for men, yes. talking in a restroom to a stranger is a good way to get beat up. even talking to a friend is prohibited unless youre both on the "washing your hands" phase. the reason is that it is rude to talk to another man when either of the men have their pants undone.

My husband plays in a band and they have like 3 shows every week and I swear these drunk chicks at bars just love to strike up a conversation with me and it's downright irritating.
"Oh I like your shoes!"
"Is the drummer single?"
"Are you drunk too?"
It goes on and on and on .....
Please people, if you must say something to me, wait until I come out of the stall.
