I always eat pizza when it's really hot. And you don't realize until afterwards that you just burnt the top of your mouth.

I usually wait a minute or two before digging in and I usually drink water with it to make sure so the top of my mouth wouldn't burn.

Hot cheese is very dangerous, because it sticks. You should test the pizza with your finger first - wait for the cheese to start to harden before biting into the pizza wholeheartedly. I usually eat the first bite by cutting off the slice with a knife and fork, picking it up, and blowing on it, before putting it in my mouth. When the cheese is no longer liquid, I eat the rest of the slice by hand.

I like mine hot as well, and eat the first slice very carefully but I do suffer the same thing.

Oh, for real??? Me too!!!! I just always have to remind myself that, duh it's hot and to wait a minute!!!
