acid reflux, I also have asthma that is affected by the fact that I have the disease Fibromyalga. Everyday I take 10 different prescriptions usually 2-3 a day. They shoot Steoroids in my hip and back and now I am on oral steroids. Needless to say I look like the staypuff marshmellow man. I have ballooned up 80 pounds since all this started and I am very upset about it. My question is. Why is it worth it? I have no quality of life at all. I am turning 35 tomorrow and have to little boys age 8 and 11 and my 8 year old tells me daily he knows I am fat but it'll be okay. Somebody help, because my future ex husband says suck it up.

As a medical professional and a person who suffers daily, I certainly understand your illness. When we suffer so bad for long periods of time, we are going to be depressed and anyone who has gone thru what you have does understand. It isn't easy to just suck it up. I suggest that you taper off the steroids and do your best to get off them completely. They do great damage to the spine in particular. I am sure you are seeing the Doctor and hopefully you can get some help for the depression. I have had many patients who could not live with out steroids because of lung disease and they have no choice to stay on them in order to breathe. And sure they cause the body to balloon. This is the lessor of the two evils though, as compared to skeletal damage they do over the long run.
Try to count your blessings every day, as things could be worse. You have those precious little ones to live for and you have their love. That is what matters most. There are so many people who have our kind of pain and suffering, but have no one who cares. Do take good care of yourself and if you need someone to chat with, feel free to contact me. I will be praying for you.

There is a DSM-IV diagnosis called Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia, because the two of them commonly go together. Or somebody can have Panic Disorder without Agoraphobia, or Agoraphobia without Panic DIsorder. Agoraphobia is fear of open spaces. Social Phobia is fear of being around other people, being judged, excessive self-consiousness, etc. I never heard of Agoraphobia and Social combined in one person, but the psychiatric might give more than one diagnosis if the patient meets the criteria for both. What you're descibing sounds more like Social Phobia than anything else. It doesn't sound like she has true Paranoia either. I hope she will consider going to a doctor for that.

Are you sure the steroids are making you gain weight and it's not fluid retention from your heart? Have you had that checked on recently? What do you take the steroids for, the asthma? Have you tried Advair? That might be an option it has a touch of steroid in it but it goes to the lungs not through the whole body. There are alot of other options for fibromyalgia too you can try. Do you think your depression is because you just feel so blah? It's hard having multiple conditions, I am a cancer survivor and have lymphedema, fibro, high blood pressure, chronic fatigue, tmj issues, anemia and a few other things here and there like thyroid, borderline diabetes etc. One thing you might want to consider is joining a support group, they help alot, you share ideas of things to try and make friends, yahoo has alot of them in "groups". I own Lymphland.com and Lymphland support and when you help other people with problems, you feel better about your own, it lifts your spirits to help people. It might help your social anxiety disorder too because you wouldn't have to "face" the people, it'd be email or chats and you could answer when you felt up to it, no pressure. I think it would help you. And why is your life worth it? You have 2 sons, you created life, those boys depend on mom to be there and love you. A mom is a childs protector and world. I think you'd be amazed at how many people are in the same boat as you and I think you'd feel better to talk to others. I take 8 prescriptions a day, I weeded mine down to the bare essentials and I do alot of alternative med. You might want to look into other options, and you could post that in the support group or even make your own group, it might be fun for you to create a place for people to go that is all your own.

Take a vacation away from your family for a week. Your husband doesn't sound supportive, give him the kids for a week and just go. It really doesn't matter where. Turn off your cell phone, don't give him the hotel number, and just relax. I have frequent panic attacks and the one thing that gets them triggered is my family. I have to get away. And the way I look at it, if you can still get out of bed in the morning, your not fat. You may be able to lose weight, but as long as your bed doesn't collapse under you, you're golden.

when i am stressed i listen to the chanting in the quran. it really calms me and i feel at peace. you can turn off the english option on that site and just listen to the arabic. i know that might sound a little odd to you, but it really can help calm you.

i hope you find what you're looking for. your self worth is not based on your age, weight, sex. you are beautiful, and i am sure your kids think so as well.

I'm sorry you feel so bad. Do you eat a lot of sugar, dessert, ice cream, pasta, white bread, packaged "diet" foods, soda, cake, cookies, candy....? Some people are "allergic" to sugar and it really effects them from head to toe.
