I've read that speeding does not cause accidents. Why do pigs give tickets for speeding then?

I have no problem with cops, and I think that that they are useful for catching murderers, rapists, and violent criminals, accidents, and helping. Anything else they do makes them a pig, especially speeding tickets which only serve as a state funded extortion business. When are we going to tell the state to suck it and stop them from coercing us by gunpoint?

The government state does everything by gunpoint, because if you don't obey them then they coerce you by whatever means necessary. Speeding does not cause accidents, and that has been proven to be fact.
someone speeding up to run a red light had the accident because they ran the read light, not because they were speeding. What a stupid example you gave. This post mostly applies to highway driving and not much else. Also I see pigs doing 10-20 over the speed limit on regular roads all the time. Phucking pigs.

I think it is easier to prove, because you get a radar reading that would be hard to dispute. A lot of much worse things, like tailgating, not signaling, and driving like a maniac are more subjective and harder to prove. You're lucky you're not in NYC. The Parking Violations Bureau has a racket to make money on parking tickets, and just about everyone is found guilty, no matter what the excuse. The NYPD divides their time equally between eating donuts and giving out parking tickets.

You're largely right. No simple slogans can apply to speed.

The interstates have the highest speed limits and the lowest accident rate.

So road conditions and road design is a factor.

Driver error is a factor, too. Speed compunds driver error by reducing the amound of time a driver can react to his/her mistake or the mistake of the other driver.

Police officers are charged with public safety. Posted speed limits are there because it has been deemed the speed at which one can safely travel on the given road way.

Police officers are suppossed to enforce the law whether they agree with them or not.

There are penalties for violations of the law, hence traffic tickets.

I have got speeding tickets before and yeah they suck. But almost every time I got one I knew that I was speeding, so honestly I deserved it.

Dont blame the cops for enforcing the law, blame yourself for breaking it.

speeders are speeding more and accidents are going down. either that or The Wallstreet Journal, and USA today print lies. that and texas has an 80 mph speed limit where nys has 65

of course speed is a factor in any crash, why because two objects with no speed can never collide.

tailgating, agressive driving, and distractions cause accidents.

You read wrong! Driving to fast for conditions regardless of the speedlimit causes ACCIDENTS!

When was the last time thatyou were given a speeding ticket with a drawn piece?

Police officers give tickets for speeding because SPEEDING IS AGAINST THE LAW. And, being that they are LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, it is part of their job description to enforce the law.

I have received my fair share of speeding tickets (deserved every one of them), but not a one was ever pushed on me at gunpoint.

Slow down, it's good for your blood pressure.
Pay the ticket.
Get over it, and move on.

Traffic fines are a hidden tax. My favorite was one I got when my bumper was over the white line at a non-congested intersection. I went to court, lost, and missed a half-day of work.

Don't blame the pigs. It's the city and state administrators who give them fine quotas.
