I know of much younger girls who get their bellybuttons pierced so I don't think your too young. Try explaining to your mom that you want this piercing not just because it's a trend, but because you want it for yourself. Explain how you understand the importance of safety and how you would really appreciate if she gave you permission to pierce it, and that you will take care of it. Talk to her calmly about it, and respectfully. If she still doesn't let, I suggest you wait another year. Piercing it yourself can turn out very very bad. But I wont deny that I know do-it-yourself piercings that went fine, but still its very risky. If you do however decide to do it yourself, I recommend that you research the topic and read over how to do it correctly. Also, if you decide to pierce it yourself, purchase a 14ga needle, because most jewelry is 14ga, and it will be easier to put the ring in if you pierce with the proper size. If you use a thin needle, it will be very difficult, and painful to insert the ring after the needle. You can buy a 14ga needle at mostly any piercing salon, or you can order online. It will be much easier to pierce with it, as the needles are hollow, so the bellybutton ring will just follow the needle through you bellybutton.
Take a look at these experiences for a start:

And be sure to read over this guide of DIY(Do-It-Yourself) piercings:

But still I strongly suggest you get it pierced professionally.
Good Luck!

Oh, sure, do it yourself. You'll prove to your mom that you're too young and immature. The risk of infection is enough that it should make you cringe to even think about it.

So I'm gonna say it anyway. You're too young. Your mom IS the boss of you, whether you like it or not. And if you're going to live under her roof, you ARE subject to her rules.

If you really want a piercing, (which is an inane idea anyway, I think) ask her how you can earn her trust and permission. Maybe you can earn it by getting a great report card. Maybe you can do extra chores around the house. Maybe you can work out an age where you're old enough, like 16 or 17.

Don't try to trick her into agreeing to it, or you'll just prove to her that you're not trustworthy, too. If my kid did this, they would lose a lot more privileges than just being able to wear a belly button ring. How about losing dating privileges, or not being able to go out with friends, or getting a driver's license? How would you like to explain to your friends that you can't go to a party or to the mall because you're grounded at age 15?

Definitely don't do it yourself!! Infections can occur even with professional piercings, and a stomach infection is NOT something you want during the summer! Explain to your mom that you're able to take responsibility for it...if you have your ears pierced, you can use that as evidence. You can also show her some of the really small, cute studs that you can wear rather than the blingy jewelry that she may think is trashy. Good luck!

No NEVER pierce your own bellybutton it will only get infected and be completely ruined. Instead promise to ace all your final exams and get a summer job if she lets you do this one thing.

You can do it. Be sure to sterilize the needle and only use stainless steel ring. you might want to numb it with ice.
