Five pounds in ten days is actually very good. You are doing a great job so far and you're losing weight the smart way by altering your diet and doing cardio. For quicker weight loss, eliminate sugar as well and do your walking/jogging first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Some carbs are okay as long as they are complex carbs such as sweet potatoes and whole wheat bread.

You have to eat carbs. You can't cut them out. This is why people on Atkins or South Beach fail--because as soon as they start eating carbs, they gain all the weight back. Eat whole grains. Remember, the more fiber the carb contains, the better and less processed it is.

And, I bet you aren't eating enough. You have to eat at least 1,200 calories a day if you want to lose weight. Eating less than that signals your body that you are starving it and it will shut down and hold on to all your stored calories and fat to protect your vital organs and prevent starvation.

You do those 2 things and the weight will come off. That is if you really need to lose some.

5 pounds in 10 days is alot. Most of it is probably water weight though. It takes patience and hard work, both on the dining table and in the gym. I took me 9 months to lose 40+ lbs. I distinctly remember not losing a single pound in the first two months, mostly because I was gaining muscle.

its more than the healthy amount to lose - 1-2lbs a week.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.
