I don't necessarily agree with the idea that believing in god is a delusion, although I myself do not believe in god I also do not think it is fair to categorize theists in this way. If you take all the things that god symbolizes for a theists, peace, love, compassion, etc....(Never mind what their religion says about the afterlife) Then you can find a common ground for everyone to stand on. I have always wondered why theists choose to worship a being over actually practicing these virtues, but in essence I think that is what they want to do, except they are confused about it. For example, if I like a certain presidential candidates views I can agree and stand behind what he believes, but it does not man I have to worship him/her. This is where the theists confusion lies. But of course this is only my opinion.

prepared religions of each stripe are poisonous. I agree completely with Hitchens. actual spiritually can basically be accomplished in a private way. prepared religions and their invented doctrines and dogmas certainly avert spirituality because of the fact they carry exclusivity - a sort of "you and me against them" mentality. non secular variations have led to - and proceed to reason - homicide and mayhem. I haven't any doubt that if all prepared religions have been abolished, this international could be kinder, gentler, and SANER. regrettably, it won't stop us from killing one yet another for different than non secular variations. i assume you could ascribe this to the "human concern." this is basically that, in my opinion, non secular variations basically make existence worse.

People poisen religion by using selecting quotes to support their incomplete knowledge or perspective of the truth, in order to support their own corrupted rationality (which they then use to justify commiting acts to satisfy their own desire's). Their own desire is usually to over gratify their own base needs for power, money, sex, love, status, and knowledge. This is usually in an attempt to obtain security of ego, or to satisfy an insecurity.
When this fails, people try harder to obtain more power, money, sex, love, status and knowledge in order to try to obtain a mythical happiness.
Those whom find this a pointless attitude give up on happiness sighting that happiness is an illusion, and one just has to change goals. Those people die feeling just as un forfilled.
True happiness is something one has to search for by putting one's energies into finding God, and serving him, rather than oneself or one's family/friends/countrymen.

You mean because you like lying, cheating and stealing? The only thing I can see why you would hate HIM. Why do you keep reading and immersing yourself in things about religion if you find it so repulsive? You cannot dishonor an honorable man.
