That's a good question....the older, huge cathedrals are so beautiful architecturally....I bet the cost of these kinds of churches for a brand new building are just too expensive for this type of structure nowadays.

Because they've let the world come into the church. Their so busy trying to get their numbers up and more money coming in that they've forgotten the true meaning of church is to workship the Lord and learn more about Him. There's too much "playing" in the church these days and not enough worshiping the Lord in spirit and in truth as the Bible says. Take the "playgrounds" out of the church and let the children sit down and learn about Jesus. Playgrounds and recess are for school not church!

Many 'churches' in USA do not currently practice the 'two or more witnesses' principle (Matt. 18:16), combined with 2 Tim. 3:16-17; if they did, they would realize that the scriptural old testament is not Genesis-Malachi, but the law of Moses.

What are Churches supposed to look like? The earliest Christians met in homes I think. Times change ... so does architecture.

What specifically is a church supposed to look like? Jesus taught his disciples and spoke to people in homes and outside, on several occasions. Shouldn't a church be anywhere that Christians gather to worship??
