Hey first off a friend told me to contact you regarding this question. First off this is not a diet. Raw meat is not a good thing to give any animal, or human. Raw meat, ANY, kind of raw meat can and will contain bacteria that will eventually harm or possibly kill your dog. Do not ever feed you Dog RAW meat or Eggs! These people don't have any clue as to what they are talking about. If your dog needs to lose weight take it to the vet and ask your vet what they think needs to be done. Exercise and lower calories works for dogs just like humans. I can give you a real food recipe if you would like, that I have fed to my dogs for over 15years. Email me.
All of these people keep saying dogs in the wild, we are not talking about wild dogs folks, we are not talking wolves, or coyote's, these are domesticated animals who do not have the antibodies of wild animals. Raw meat can kill your dog! I have spent 30 years in research studying dogs nutritional needs, and I have seen numerous dogs die from salmonella, and other food borne illness, and it is not pretty.

There are many websites about raw food diets. Read several before you choose the diet that is best for your pet. Do not try to switch your dog completely at once, or you will have a dog with a very bad case of liquid stool. NOT FUN! I did this with my St Bernard, and learned quickly that any change in his diet needs to be gradual. There is a product called BilJack that is a frozen raw diet for dogs, sold at petsmart, and other major pet stores. You can buy this online as well. Its a great product, packed with nutrients in the right combination. You simply thaw it and add anything else you want, and feed it to the dogs. You will be amazed at how great their coat looks after just a few weeks. Supposedly this raw diet also helps improve the longevity of dogs too. Good luck!
PS dogs are pack animals, and in the wild no one cooks their kill. The raw food does not cause worms, or increase their chances of getting any kind of infection. The acid in their stomach is different, and made to digest raw meats, bones ect. I feed my large dogs raw chicken backs, rib bones, whatever I have. The important thing is that cooked bones splinter- NEVER feed your dog cooked bones. Raw bones, or crushed eggshells are great to give your dog -- even raw eggs and cottage cheese. Take a cruise on the internet, and see what you will find. The contents of processed dog food will shock and amaze you-

I'll pretend you didn't ask the hamburger question, you will cop enough from everyone else for that. I feed my dog a variety of raw meat to mix it up. I use mainly Kangaroo as it is the highest in protein and has very little fat. I also get beef, chicken or veal, as well as chicken necks and frames, liver and raw marrow bones. for a puppy chicken is the easiest on the tummy, you can boil it with a little rice if you want.

1) Raw meat is perfectly FINE to feed your dog
2) Raw meat is a perfectly natural diet for dogs
3) raw meat will NOT give your dog worms
4) Raw meat will NOT make your dog sick
5) you can do a quick switch however fast your dog for 24 hours before you make the switch
6) do NOT cook the food first, especially bones...cooked bones are dangerous for dogs. cooking makes them brittle and will cause them to splinter. Feeding them raw is safe and will NOT cause problems.
Chicken is the best thing to start with. Chicken necks, wings and backs are best starting meats. Also you should feed your dog organ meats once or twice per week...hearts, gizzards, liver, etc. Eggs are also good a couple of times a week. They can be fed raw or slightly cooked with no danger of illness.
Some raw meat feeders do add veggies but it isn't necessary since dogs are meat eaters and do NOT require veggies and grains in their diet.

Well here are a few tips.
No 1 Never feed RAW meat. There can be parasites or bacteria in the meat that could make your dog very sick.
No 2 Don't switch the diet all at once. This can cause diarrhea, vomiting, and an upset stomach.
No 3 Check http://www.petdiets.com/ and http://www.pet-grub.com/preface.pets for tips on homemade diets and recipes. Do more research to find a recipe that fits you and your dog. It may take a couple of tries to find one he likes.
Homemade diets tend to cost a lot more than dry dog food. Make sure to research well so you provide everything your dog needs in his diet. You don't want to feed him an unbalanced diet he will get sick.

you boil the meat so that it kills the bacteria you can add vegetables raw or cooked just not onions ,mushrooms ,tomatoes, or corncobs and no you never change your dogs food automatically you have to do it over a course of 2-3 weeks just star mixing a little bit more of the boiled meat into his dry food and decrease on his dry food as you increase on the boiled meat the slower the change the better but around 2 weeks should be fine if he stars throwing up take him off the boiled meat immediately

Dont do raw! Some veggies are harmful to your pet (ex: onions, garlic, etc) Cook the meat if anything. With little to no flavor and veggies. The dry and wet food recommended for dogs that we buy has everything a dog requires in a diet. There are alot of organic food brands out there. I would research that before hand.
