I got caught by a state trooper for speeding. I plead not guilty
and the trial is expected to be on June 5th. I called the court and the lady who responded told me that the court does not have a district attorney and if the trooper doesn't show up, my case will be dismissed. Well since I've read so many people writing on the internet that troopers/police rarely do not show up, I won't write any further stuff about that. My questions are:

#1. People told me that I should go talk to the D.A about lessening the charges, but since there isn't one there, who do I discuss the charges with? Who should I ask/talk to? The Judge? Is that even possible before the trial?

#2. I've also read that points will not get erased even after going to traffic school. Then should I attend traffic school before my court date? Or is there a given time that even after getting a guilty verdict, points will not go to the DMV&Insurance Company for a certain time interval?
PS: My insurance company is Geico.

The last time I went to court, I got a lawyer and he got the case dropped completely.
He explained it to me like this.

the trail date will come and I will go and plead not guilty, the judge will set another court date and have the officer there next time. Then it could go either way.

The last speeding ticket I got, it had a form that was mailed to me, and stated that if I wanted to go to traffic school, I had to plead guilty, and pay the court costs plus pay 60 bucks for the traffic school. After attending that I was told that the points will not be assessed against my license and the insurance company will not be made aware of the ticket.

It was a 4 hour class given by a KY State trooper, we went at it for three hours and then the cop said we can take a break, but be sure to come back for the last part. When we got back from the break, the cop handed out tickets saying that we had completed the training and if we get stopped within a year then to show the cop the card, and he would give you a warning, unless you really did something stupid. Anyway all the guys that cut out early, didn't get their cards and the cop put them in his pocket and said they'll be back and take it all over again. The joke was on them.

Don't be late to court or traffic school. good luck

By going to traffic school before the court date it shows good intentions on your part to the judge.
You could ask or he may drop the points and just make you pay the fines.
