The unforgivable sin is not blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. It is actually a complete and final rejection of the Holy Spirit, which is the member of the Trinity who seals you as belonging to Jesus Christ. The spirit behind the Biblical verse is one of rejecting finally the Holy Spirit. It is not actually about saying something bad about Him or about ascribing His work to the devil. It is possible to say such a hurtful and awful thing but t is also possible to repent of it. Rejecting the Holy Spirit temporarily, which most, if not all, people do at some time, can be forgiven if there is repentence. Rejecting the Holy Spirit even to the point of death is unforgivable in the sense that you have chosen never to be with Jesus Christ. You therefore will not be. God will respect your choice.

One of the definition of blaspheme given in the Strong's is to defy or work against. The end times meaning of the term blaspheme is based in this word (defy) to physically defy the holy spirit by not repeating what the holy spirit has given you to say when you are before the synagogue of satan. But instead say something else. This type of blasphemy can only be committed by God's elect. Let the wise understand.

The actual "Blasphemy" can't be done today because Blasphemy of the holy spirit is when you would think Jesus wasn't a holy man, but a demon possessed man. It cannot be committed again because Jesus is not on Earth anymore.
However, the closest thing to this is unbelief. Which sadly, there ARE a lot of people here who don't believe. Atheists and Agnostic people are the closest thing to the unforgivable sin.

IN CONTEXT of the passage (Mark 3:22-30 and in Matthew 12:22-32), "blasphemy against the Holy Ghost" is to say that Christ did His works and miracles by the power of Beelzebub, (Satan).
That's God's job to judge that....not ours.

Consider the transformation of Saul to Paul on the road to Damascus. Act 8-9. If they are actively engaged in contending with the truth while not rejecting it, then there is always hope for conversion and transformation.
Saul was uttering all kinds of threats and rounding up christians for the death camps. Jesus had a plan for him, and his 180 degree conversion is one of the greatest miracles in the New testament. So when you find your self contending realize God is using as an instrument reach those who are really seeking truth even though it looks like threats, and bad reviling.
You will also receive a blessing for being reviled for the name of JESUS.

Possible? Yes, but we are not in position to make the judgment to say whether someone is saved, unsaved, committed a pardonable sin, committed an unpardonable sin. It is not our place to make such a judgment. Only God can judge.
On the other hand, we aren't to be stupid either. It isn't wise to hire ex-sex offenders for the church nursery or those who have falsified financial records to do the church books.
Being wise a serphants is also commanded.
The answer is to follow God's instruction.

Well, if I get violation notices when I'm not even being particularly blasphemous, I guess true blasphemy would make Yahoo Answers, like, reach through the monitor and cut your fingers off as you type.

That is not the Unpardonable Sin.
Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven in the next world to come--but in the world AFTER that one, it Will Be Forgiven.

Blasphemy has been committed here on this board, by those described here!
(Jude 1:10-to-13) But what things they do not know, they speak evil of. And what things they understand naturally, like the animals without reason, they are corrupted by these.
(Jud 1:11) Woe to them! For they went the way of Cain, and gave themselves up to the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah.
(Jud 1:12) These are sunken rocks in your love feasts, feasting together with you; feeding themselves without fear; waterless clouds being carried about by winds; fruitless autumn trees, = = having died twice = = , having been plucked up by the roots;
(Jud 1:13) wild waves of the sea foaming up their shames; wandering stars for whom blackness of darkness has been kept forever.
Thanks, RR

ok, truthfuly if their talking bad about God or the holy spirit then they havent really accepted Christ into their lives, because you wouldnt be bad mouthing Christ to others if you truly believe in Him. so yes people have done it, and any sin can be forgiven. but if your doing that, then you probly need to think twice about if your really a christian, or just tring to think you are.
