Don't use bug spray on your dog. It can have organophosphates in it which is toxic and it could get very sick. There are things made specifically for pets. Check a pet store or talk to a vet about what you could use.

I'm sure the back of the can of bug spray specifically says whether it is toxic or not. More often than not, they are quite toxic and advise you not to use in a home where pets are present, or to get them out of the room for a certain amount of time until the spray dissipates. Sooo, spraying it ON the dog is probably a real bad idea. :(

Uhmmm.. The question is something.. Not sure silly is what I was thinking.. Read the can, likely to mentions not to spray in eyes, or breath in the fumes, don't use while smoking etc.. That pretty much says that you shouldn't spray it on your dog.. Course they can't mention every stupid thing people might try to do, so they are general in the warnings...

NO, you cannot spray bug spray on your dog. You cannot even spray flea premise spray on your dog...
Don't spray anything on or around your dog unless you yourself is willing to drink it.

Unless it is made especially for dogs, NO. The chemicals used in most bug sprays are very toxic to dogs and cats.

NO! DOGS LICK THEMSELVES and therefore the dog will get sick from the bug spray so yes this is a very silly question bug spray will poison the dog. watch out for the swiffer jet as it contains antifreeze and can also sicken animals because they walk on the floor with their paws and then lick it off of their paws.

Not recommended. It can cause skin irritation as well as other problems. Especially if the dog licks himself/herself. I do believe they make sprays for animals to repell bugs. I would check into that or even get something from the vet's office.

No. It irritates the dog skin and if they lick themselves they can injest it and get sick from it. There are dog safe bug sprays out there. Petsmart has them.

Yes that is a silly question. Have you not heard of flea/tick/mite medication? Get some from a vets. And READ what it says on all labels of any products you use - that will save you having to come on here asking questions and getting rude answers off people like me.

I suggest not doing that. It can irritate te skin, and it could make the hair sticky. Also, as other people said, the dog could lick it and it could get inside him. Not a good thing.
