I am trying to build am Electronic Distance Measuring Device based on ultrasound Using a 8051 family Microcontroller. I am looking for a Microcontroller from this family suited for this task, can you tell me wich one I should use; I was hoping for one that it's simmilar to the MSP430 family from Texas Instruments.

Why don't you check out the AVR butterfly instead. It has an LCD and the entire board is the size of a credit card. And its cheap , about $25.00

since your set on the 8051, i would check out atmel's uC.
