I just had an interesting talk with an Active duty CSM who was there twice. He thinks that Iraq should be divided into 3 countries, one for the Kurds, one for the Shites, and one for the Sunnis. A governing commitee to equally share profits from Iraqs oil amongst the three. Unfortunately I told the CSM the oil will probably start something between the 3 of them and another war will be at hand.

The death rate is 30% down from last year. Also according to the online CIA fact book for Iraq, in 2006 the death rate per 1,000 was half that of Germany and Italy. Most European countries and the U.S. have a higher death rate than Iraq.

As far as their government goes, without Sadar's influence his movement might die out at least politically and militarily. On the Sunni side, they have taken up arms against Al Qaeda. On the government side, there are over 500,000 assigned to be police and soldiers and the Iraqi president said that they should be fully operational in June 2007.
